About the Show
‘A Sketch Comedy Extravaganza Eleganza!’ is a Canadian Comedy Award Winning sketch comedy revue written and performed by the best queer sketch comedians in Toronto. After being named one of the top five comedy shows of 2018 (Now Magazine), winning the 2019 ‘Best Live Production’ at the CCA’s and multiple sold out performances at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, Crow’s Theatre & smash hit run on the Second City Toronto Mainstage, we are proud to present this sketch revue at ZOOFEST/OFF-JFL!
Our show features original sketches and songs by: Tricia Black (She the People, The Sketchersons), King Chiu (Not Oasis, Second City Diversity Fellowship), Monica Garrido (The Elder Project: Buddies in Bad Times, Second City Diversity Fellowship), Tom Hearn (HouseCo, The Sketchersons), Marshall Lorenzo (Panacea™, The Sketchersons), Selena Vyle (Nicky Nasrallah) (HouseCo, Panacea™), and Jillian Welsh (TourCo, Cherry Beach) featuring Meg MacKay (Freelance Witch, QAPD Collective). The show is directed by Kirsten Rasmussen (Second City, Bloody Mary’s) and features musical direction by Ayaka Kinugawa.
Our original at run Buddies in Bad Times Theatre was selected to be funded through the 2018 Sketch Comedy Project Fund, a special project of The Pat and Tony Adams Freedom Fund for the Arts.
A sharp, smart and contemporary queer sketch show written and performed by a diverse group of artists whose work was so fresh, specific and detailed, it had the ring of truth.
If Saturday Night Live had sex with Kids In The Hall during a musical, Extravaganza Eleganza would be the offspring.
Perhaps one of the smartest queer (or otherwise) comedy shows I’ve seen in years.
Shanty they all stay!
